Bunq Unveils 5k Credit Card

Hey Digital Banking Fanatic!

bunq is making a pretty clear statement about where digital banking is heading: more payments, more flexibility, and everything in one app.

The neobank has completed its Wero rollout across the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium, becoming the first bank to offer both person-to-person and eCommerce payments through Wero across all four markets.

That means bunq users can send money across borders using just a phone number, or pay online directly from their account without entering card details.

At the same time, bunq is giving users more flexibility on the other side of the balance sheet, with a credit limit of up to €5,000 on its globally accepted credit card — while keeping spending, available credit and repayments visible directly in the app.

And there’s some serious scale behind these moves: bunq has now passed €10B in user deposits.

What’s interesting is how these pieces fit together. Payments, credit, deposits and cross-border banking are increasingly becoming parts of the same digital experience rather than separate products.

And this shift isn’t only happening at the customer-facing layer. Ove Kreison from Tuum recently highlighted how AI could help banks untangle decades of legacy complexity, making core modernization possible in months rather than multi-year migrations — without leaving the existing business behind.
