Hey Digital Banking Fanatic!

Mintos has initiated the process to secure a banking license from the European Central Bank.

The licence would unlock deposit-based funding and enable lending and other banking products directly to customers.

Nearly 700,000 registered investors. Over €800 million in assets. A platform born in peer-to-peer lending is now aiming for full banking status.

"Pursuing an ECB banking license is a strategic decision that builds on the strong regulatory and operational foundation we have already established," stated Martins Sulte, CEO and Co-Founder of Mintos. "It enables us to expand what we can offer our investors."

It also brings deposit protection up to €100,000 and greater control over custody, clearing, and settlement infrastructure.

Founded 10 years ago in Riga, Mintos has already rolled out across all EU markets. In the past two years alone, it expanded into fractional bonds, ETF portfolios, real estate, and Smart Cash.

This is not just product expansion. It is a balance sheet ambition. Investment platforms across Europe are moving closer to core banking infrastructure.

More signals from the Digital Banking sector coming 👇 Tomorrow, I'll be back here with the latest updates. Stay tuned.

Cheers,

Marcel
