Sella Goes All-In on Hype with Full Acquisition

Hey Digital Banking Fanatic!

Banca Sella is taking full control of Hype, acquiring the remaining 50% stake from illimity for €85 million.

The move brings the Italian neobank fully under the Sella Group umbrella.

The plan here is to merge Hype into Banca Sella by early 2026 —pending regulatory approval—and create a single, more agile digital banking platform.

Sella says the acquisition reflects a new strategic direction. While Hype will continue to operate under its own brand, the goal is to combine tech, data, and AI to scale in the retail segment and boost competitiveness.
