Wio Bank and Masdar City Free Zone partner to deliver digital banking for UAE innovators
Hey Digital Banking Fanatic!
What if your bank account came with your company's address?
That's the idea behind Wio Bank's new partnership with Masdar City Free Zone, Abu Dhabi's hub for research, sustainability and tech innovation.
Under the MoU, businesses in the free zone, from solo founders and startups to SMEs and large companies, get access to Wio Business. That means fully digital account opening, payments and transfers, payroll management and cash flow monitoring.
Their employees get a dedicated Wio Personal salary banking offer, with savings, personal loan offers and credit card deals.
"Businesses get a digital banking partner in Wio Business from the day they set up," says Prateek Vahie, Chief Commercial Officer at Wio Bank.
What I like about this model is the timing. The bank is there when a company is being set up, not something founders have to sort out afterwards.
Now let's see how many of the zone's companies take it up.
Here's what else is happening in digital banking today👇
See you on Monday!
Cheers,

The discussion highlights why verifying an agent and its permissions isn't enough: even authorized agents can be manipulated into making fraudulent payments. Key topics include transaction intent, recipient risk, device intelligence, physical-world relationships and when banks should require additional customer verification. The central takeaway: banks must assess whether an agent's actions make sense for the customer, not simply whether the agent is legitimate. Explore all the details here
