Nu Global Welcomes Its First Customers

Hey Digital Banking Fanatic!

Nubank is taking its next step beyond Latin America. Its new Nu Global account is welcoming its first customers in the US, offering a different way to earn, spend, and move money across borders.

The offering combines yields of 3.50% APY on USDC and 2.20% on EURC, fee-free transfers to more than 35 countries across Latin America and Europe, a portfolio of digital assets, and a virtual card with automatic currency conversion.

What I find interesting is how Nubank is bringing together everyday banking, stablecoins, and cross-border spending in one account. Rather than treating digital dollars and euros as something separate from banking, it’s making them part of the customer experience.

And that raises a bigger question: if customers can earn yield on digital assets and move money internationally with fewer fees, how much money will they still want to keep in traditional bank accounts?

That’s also the question explored by Maple, which looks at how stablecoins and tokenised credit could reshape where people hold their money.

Here’s what else is happening in digital banking today👇

See you on Monday!

Cheers,

Marcel
