Revolut and Visa Put AI in the Payment Loop

Revolut and Visa Put AI in the Payment Loop

Hey Digital Banking Fanatic!

AI is moving from helping you find what to buy to potentially buying it for you.

Revolut and Visa are piloting what they describe as France’s first secure AI-initiated payment, with an AI agent able to handle a purchase on a customer’s behalf — but only with their prior consent.

The interesting part is that the experiment doesn’t try to replace the existing security stack. Visa Payment Passkey handles authentication while the payment still sits within the existing card and fraud-control infrastructure.

That raises a much bigger question for digital banking: if AI agents start making purchases for you, where does the bank’s role end — and where does the customer’s control begin?

And while Revolut is testing what banking could look like when AI starts acting on your behalf, this map takes a different look at Europe’s banks — by how many people they actually serve.

Let’s get into today’s Digital Banking stories. 👇 See you tomorrow!

Cheers,

Marcel
